Advanced Reading Comprehension Strategies

There’s more to reading than recognizing words! 

In this training we’ll practice strategies and tools you can use to help readers deepen their understanding of texts. We’ll talk about ideas to help students remember what they read, decide what’s important, connect the text to their own experience, support their ideas with evidence, and determine where they’re getting stuck. We will also discuss sources for finding authentic reading materials outside of textbooks. Our focus will be on intermediate English learners, ABE, and GED learners.
