ESL classes and tutoring sessions often focus on helping students express what they need, but just as important is helping students express what they want. Research shows that talking about goals with students and celebrating student progress leads to higher student retention. But having meaningful conversations about goals can be challenging, especially when you’re working with English learners. Tim Parzyck will share his holistic approach to talking about goals and walk us through the multi-level exercises and materials he uses to engage students in discussions about their future aspirations, big and small.
