Description
We encourage consistent attendance for learners because regular practice is an important part of learning a new skill. But we also need to acknowledge that there are legitimate reasons why a learner may not attend tutoring regularly or may join a class late into the term.
In keeping with a trauma-informed approach, we’ll investigate ways to help create a welcoming learning environment for all your learners– regardless of who shows up. We’ll discuss some of the reasons why learners struggle to keep a regular schedule and share some strategies for simultaneously managing new learners and an ever-shifting class list. We’ll also practice some activities that you can use in 1:1 tutoring or a small group class.
This training is part of our Instructional Techniques series. Content is designed with tutors and teachers in mind, although everyone is welcome!
